The 14th edition of the Al Dahfra Festival is earmarked to take place at Medinat Zayed from 5 November until 29 January 2021.

Al Dhafra Festival 2020 celebrates the rich cultural history of the UAE, with traditional competitions and events. Visitors of the festival are welcome to see unique experiences and learn more about the cultures and traditions of the tribes.

Al Dhafra Festival 2020 activities:

  • a camel beauty contest;
  • falconry competition;
  • shooting tournaments;
  • falcon, saluki, and goat beauty contest;
  • saluki racing (a locally indigenous breed of dog);
  • purebred horse racing.
 

Participants will be celebrating their winning camel while marking the head of the animal with a paste made with the expensive and rare Saffron along with other aromatics. The local bazaar will not be held this year due to preventive measures keeping the community’s health and safety.

The festival is carried out under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of  Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces.

*Preventative measures will be applicable: daily temperature checks and sterilization of all festival sites, mandatory face masks and gloves, maintaining physical distance, as well as provision of all required hygiene.
